Kit Gibbs-About Me

I enjoy capturing a mood or feeling within my work, showcasing beauty through my own view of the world. I take inspiration from nature, whether that be a sweeping landscape, the detail of moss growing on a fallen branch, or bones uncovered on a downland path. Creating my work with the intention of storytelling and sharing helps motivate me and gives my work purpose. I want to create pieces that have a genuine impact on people in some way or another.

I enjoy experimenting with older technology to try to capture an atmosphere, for example I have been using my Canon PowershotS80 from the early 2000’s, as well as an Olympus Zukio and a Holga 120 CFN, trying out different films and techniques - the results of these can be seen on both my film and photography pages.

I always like to be busy, and for relaxation I like to make hand sewn costumes and plushies. Some of these I incorporate into my college projects but I also take on commissions and successfully sell online. I also have an Etsy store called ‘Dead on arrival' selling bones and skulls (that I have found) and vintage taxidermy bought at antique markets. Music is also a big part of my life and I play bass and guitar and enjoy expanding my collection of Emo CD’s, Vinyls and cassettes from the early 2000’s.
